Do you think that the digital conditions of ‘easily evaded uncertainty’ is related to maxxing behaviour? Where you need an order of magnitude more X to accomplish a nontrivial experience of transcendence. So maxxing behaviour is an attempt to find transcendence in conditions where it is not easily found, as finitude as comparatively absent. Not to mention it gains attention, but this perhaps one side of the coin.

Yes, this is brilliant. If no finitude is possible in digital reality then we have to create it ourselves. In this sense, maxxxing signals a contrived limitation on attention. They relegate all other attention as subservient to whatever is getting maxxed, and in a way that can be signaled as status.

So perhaps this represents a finitude that maxxers are hoping is sufficient for some ground of transcendence. And perhaps an early prototype for what navigating our digital dialectic will look like: less given obligations, more chosen covenants.

Oh interesting. I didn’t necessarily see the community aspect of it but makes total sense. Without the ‘natural’ membranes of geographic space and time then you need attentional attractors instead (?)

This is a useful framing - thank you! If you haven’t already read Vaughn Tan’s recent work regarding uncertainty, I recommend it as a useful complement to what you discussed here. https://open.substack.com/pub/uncertaintymindset/p/strats-uncertainties

All of that is just an extreme development of the Wetiko Mid-Virus or Psychosis as described here http://www.awakeninthedream.com/undreaming-wetiko-introduction

Or put in other words bullshit-all-the-way-down!
